About this tool
This Whatnot fee calculator shows exactly what Whatnot keeps from a sale and what lands in your pocket. Enter the sale price, the shipping the buyer pays, the shipping you pay, and what the item cost you. Pick your category and your sales tier, and you get an itemized breakdown: commission, payment processing, net payout, profit, margin and your effective fee rate. Nothing is uploaded; the math runs in your browser.
Whatnot changed its seller fees on September 21, 2026. The commission is no longer one flat number. It now depends on both the category you sell in and your total sales over a rolling 28-day window, so a high-volume fashion seller pays a different rate than a new TCG seller. This page builds that tier table into the calculator so you do not have to look it up each time.
How to use it
- Enter the item sale price and the shipping your buyer pays.
- Enter the shipping you pay and what the item cost you.
- Choose the category and your current 28-day sales tier. If you are not sure, use Standard.
- Add the buyer's sales tax if you want processing calculated on the full order total.
- Optionally enter a target profit to see what price to list at.
How Whatnot fees work
Whatnot charges two separate things on each sale. First is the commission, a percentage that depends on category and tier. Second is payment processing, which is 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction in the US, Canada and Australia, charged on the total the buyer pays (item, shipping and taxes). Processing is not reduced by tier. The table shows the US commission rates from Whatnot's seller fees page.
| Category | Standard | Tier 1 | Tier 2 | Tier 3 | Tier 4 | Tier 5 | Tier 6 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sports | 8% | 7.75% | 7.5% | 7.25% | 7% | 6.75% | 6.5% |
| TCG | 8% | 7.75% | 7.5% | 7.25% | 7% | 6.75% | 6.5% |
| Fashion | 8% | 7% | 6.5% | 5.5% | 5% | 4.5% | 4.5% |
| Other Collectibles | 8% | 7.25% | 6.5% | 6% | 5% | 5% | 5% |
| Coins | 4% | 3.9% | 3.8% | 3.7% | 3.6% | 3.55% | 3.5% |
| Other | 8% | 7% | 6.5% | 5.5% | 4% | 4% | 4% |
Worked example
A $50 TCG card sells at the Standard tier. The buyer pays $8 shipping, your real shipping is $8 and the card cost you $15.
| Line | Amount |
|---|---|
| Item price | $50.00 |
| Shipping paid by buyer | $8.00 |
| Commission (8%, TCG, Standard tier) | -$4.00 |
| Payment processing (2.9% + $0.30) | -$1.98 |
| Net payout | $52.02 |
| Shipping you pay | -$8.00 |
| Item cost | -$15.00 |
| Profit | $29.02 |
That is a margin of 50.0% and an effective fee rate of 10.3% of everything the buyer pays you.
Ways to protect your margin on Whatnot
The $0.30 processing fee hurts most on low-priced items, because it is a fixed amount. On a $5 sale it is a much larger share than on a $50 sale. If you run live shows with lots of small items, bundle them or set a floor price so the fixed fee does not eat your profit. Because commission rates fall as your 28-day sales rise, a strong month can also lower the rate you pay next month, so it is worth checking your tier before you set prices for a big show.
Shipping matters just as much. If you charge a flat shipping fee that is higher than your real cost, the difference is extra revenue, but it also raises the processing base. Test both numbers in the calculator and compare the effective fee rate.
Rates and what to verify
These rates were checked on October 11, 2026 against the platform's own fee page: official source. Marketplaces change fees often, and the numbers in this tool live in one place so they can be updated quickly. Treat every result as an estimate and compare it with your own payout before you price a big order.
- TO VERIFY: Whether the commission is charged on the item price only or also on buyer-paid shipping. The page does not say, so this tool uses the item price only.
- TO VERIFY: Whatnot says other seller fees can apply on top of commission but does not list them, so none are included here.
- TO VERIFY: The Premier Shop commission discount (10% off through October 31, 2026) is not included.
- TO VERIFY: Your tier uses total sales across all categories in a rolling four-week (28-day) period. Check your own seller dashboard for your current tier.
Things to watch out for
Rates are set per market, and this tool uses US rates. Coins carry a lower commission than the other categories, and live sales use the show's category while marketplace sales use the product's category. A sale that is refunded or cancelled may not return the processing fee, so keep a cushion. For other platforms, see the reseller fee calculators, or work out margins with the percentage calculator.
